Bowen therapy and treating a herniated disc Bowen's specific movements relieve tension in and around the herniated area. By using special procedures in a Bowen treatment, as well as basic relaxation movements, most clients get a degree of immediate relief from a herniated disc after the first session. Hamstrings that are too tight and strong must be persuaded to come loose, so that stretching can have a lasting impact. In addition, weak and tight muscles in the thigh, hip, and lower part need a little push to know that it's safe to work again.
Strength work can help them be strong enough to work in unison with their antagonists.
Bowen therapy
is designed to stimulate nerve pathways and initiate the internal healing response of the body and brain. Not to be confused with chiropractic and physical therapy techniques, Bowen therapy does not manipulate bones, but rather aims to balance the body by applying very gentle stimuli to connective tissue, such as cartilage and tendons, and selecting muscles. Patients treated with Bowen have seen a substantial decrease or complete disappearance of pain and muscle weakness associated with disc slippage in just 1 session.Bowen therapy is a holistic treatment that focuses on soft fascia through practical, non-manipulative treatment with the thumb and index fingers. During a Bowen Therapy session, a therapist will focus on small portions of the body at a time, using different pressures and speeds. Depending on the individual case, the therapist may or may not include breaks between treatments, which is believed to allow the body to initiate the body's internal healing processes and relax irregularly contracted muscles. In most cases, surgery is not a requirement and can be treated with physical therapy, home remedies, acupuncture, or Bowen therapy.
By Bowen's fourth session I was no longer in pain and by my eighth appointment I was able to stop taking my medication.
